How To Maintain Weight After Successfully Lowered it

Successfully losing your weight is not the only problem to gain ideal weight. Maintaining the weight you have successfully lowered is equally important.

According to a new study from the American Physiological Society that can be very difficult because your body is always hungry.

The results conclude when you lose lot of weight, your body sees it as a threat to your survival, so your body will increase your hunger hormones to signal that you need to eat.

"Most people will fail in diet and exercise programs to lose weight, many things that can be the reason and the appetite is the most can cause failure," said obesity specialist Spencer Nadolsky, D.O.

Restrains appetite is certainly very difficult, especially if you do it yourself. And here are the tips given by Dr. Nadolsky to hold your appetite:

1. Optimize your food

Protein and fiber are the best choice. Both slow down digestion, thus helping you feel full longer. Increase intake of fiber-rich and low-calorie carbohydrates. "Foods such as melons, berries, and peas can help," said Dr. Nadolsky.

2. Drink plenty of water

"Drink before and during your meal," advises Dr. Nadolsky. Your stomach can hold a lot of food, so if most of it is filled with water, it will have less room for additional food and can make full faster.

Even according to the Obesity journal someone who is obese and drinking about 17 ounces of water 30 minutes before eating for 12 weeks loses 3 pounds (about 453 grams) more than those who do not do it.

3. Talk with your doctor

"If the above things do not work and the hunger is unbearable and the weight rises again, we use appetite suppressants to help," says Dr. Nadolsky. These drugs target receptors in your brain related to your appetite.

This drug is really only prescribed for people who really need to lose weight because their health is at risk, because of possible side effects, such as fatigue, dizziness, and constipation.
