Argentina 2018 MotoGP Results Colored by Marquez Incident with Rossi

LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow won a full drama and controversy in the Argentine MotoGP race series at Autodromo Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina, Sunday (8/4/2018). One drama takes place between Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi.


The drama in this race actually happened before the start. Race director had delayed the race for a while due to security issues.

Racing was again delayed after almost all riders change their tires to the slick type at the last moment before the race begins. Only Jack Miller (Pramac Racing) does not do it for making the right decision.

Referring to the regulation of the championship, the rider leaving the grid should start from the back position. As a result, the front row is only filled by Miller while the other rider is four rows behind it.

The drama resumes a while before the rider starts. Repsol Honda rider, Marc Marquez, went through a strike after heating and got instructions to start from the pitlane.

However, Marquez did not comply with the rules and forced the start with other riders.

Disaster directly experienced by Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda) on the first lap. Johann Zarco (Yamaha Tech3) who tried to overtake from the inside in Pedrosa forced a little widened so that he fell off the motor when trying to get back into position.

On lap 6, Marquez was forced into the pitlane for a penalty due to his actions before the start.

Marquez who initially led the race must be willing to go down to 20th position. However, the Spanish rider moved quickly to improve his position.

The drama resumed on lap 20 when Marc Marquez crashed into Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha) to take sixth place. Marquez who tried to overtake Rossi from the inside corner of the 13th, just widened so as to push Rossi out of the track.

Valentino Rossi fell from his bike. He also had to re-start his struggle from the 19th position and stuck in the position until the finish.

Because of the accident, Marc Marquez got a 30-second penalty. Previously, Marquez also made a dangerous maneuver when trying to overtake Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing).

Meanwhile, exciting rivalry takes place in the front row filled by Jack Miller, Johann Zarco, Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda), and Alex Rins (Suzuki Ecstar).

The four riders are adrift away from the rider behind him so that the top podium competition only happens between them.

Competition four pebalap this eventually won Cal Crutchlow. Honda's satellite team rider was able to overcome fierce resistance from Johann Zarco until the final corner before the finish line.

Johann Zarco had to settle for the runner-up position in the Argentine GP race and followed by Alex Rins and Jack Miller.

While Marc Marquez who got a penalty must be willing to slip his position from the 5th position to 18th. (Ardhianto Wahyu Indraputra)
