Excess Sleep at Weekends Reduce Early Death Risk

Many people take advantage of the weekend for fun activities. However, for you who are more happy with lazing, the activity is also beneficial to the body.

A study from Stockholm University in Sweden how age and sleep duration affects a person's life opportunities.

By involving 43,000 people, the researchers found that those aged 65 and under were severely affected by sleep duration.


Those who have an average sleep duration of five hours, or more than eight hours per night tend to be more at risk of experiencing premature death.

The researchers calculated whether excessive sleep duration over the weekend could improve the duration of less sleep on a typical day can make health better.

"You seem to be able to keep up with sleep over the weekend," says Torbjörn Åkerstedt, principal investigator of the study.

According to him, there is indeed a time limit for excessive sleep duration. However, it is better to increase the hours of sleep on the weekend than not at all.
