Lazy go to the gym? Not a problem, as long as you like to exercise light and routine on the sidelines of your busy life. At least that's the message the Duke University researchers in North Carolina say.
Their latest research shows that adults who regularly exercise for at least an hour a day either at once at one time or split in time are expected to have a healthier life.
Healthy life in question is to have an ideal body weight and avoid the various diseases that usually appear with age. Not only that, sports also cut the risk of death by more than half.
The Duke University study was conducted on about 5000 men and women over the age of 40 years. Some of them like to exercise, some are lazy to exercise, and the rest only occasionally exercise.
Observations over a 10-year span of time found that moderate exercise but intensive and routine and moderate exercise had an equal benefit to body fitness.
Lennese Williams, a New Yorker, felt the benefits. He had never been to the gym and had difficulty controlling the food, but now managed to reduce his weight to 20 kilograms.
The 45-year-old woman said, "Changes will not happen within a week. But you have to start it. I started on foot. "
Yes, Williams originally started on foot. He takes time by walking to anywhere in close proximity. He also chose the ladder instead of the elevator. He then occasionally performs jumping jacks and pushups by making use of the workbench as a lender. He does that routinely for five minutes at a time and when calculated, he spends about an hour each day.
Doctor Heather Milton from the Langone Sport Studies Center at New York University was not surprised by the results of a Duke University study.
"It's a kind of confirmation that small things can be of great benefit. For decades, people love to stay active for very short periods of time, such as choosing ladders rather than elevators, parking lot away so they have to walk, or go on foot to the store. All of them provide health benefits, "said Milton.
