Why Are People have Acne but Animals doesn't have Acne?

Acne on the face is one of the most frustrating things. But, did you know that acne has something to do with our evolutionary past.

It is also what distinguishes man from animals. Our faces are very easily decorated with acne, but not with animals.

Acne that is scientifically known as Acne vulgaris, actually appears when hair follicles are clogged by skin oil and dead skin cells.

Inflamed red lumps are caused by irritation in response to Propionibacterium acnes, the bacteria that cause acne that resides in the skin of each person.

Reported by IFL Science, Saturday (7/4/2018), actually cleanliness only accounted for a few factors related to the appearance of acne. Precisely, diet and genetic factors that play a lot of acne cause.

Acne that usually appears during puberty, arising from hormonal changes that cause sebaceous glands in the skin secrete more oily secretions known as sebum.

Most mammals produce sebum to lubricate and moisturize the skin by creating a waxy coating. This method also used the skin as a barrier to prevent germs from penetrating the skin.

According to evolutionary theorists Stephen Kellet and Paul Gilbert, evolution in humans has lost a lot of hair in humans. However, sebaceous glands keep pumping a little sebum in our skin.

According to them, a little hair on the human skin will make sebum build up and result in easier pores clogged.

This is actually also experienced by dogs or cats with short hair. For example, persian cats are very susceptible to experiencing cat pimples around the face and chin. Both areas have hair much shorter than other body areas.
