Through a concept smartphone called Apex, Vivo became the first gadget manufacturer in the world to implement an under-display fingerprint scanner feature, where a fingerprint scanner is embedded in the screen.
As a result, Apex does not need to provide a special place for fingerprint scanner like on the back. Users can just touch the screen of the phone to perform fingerprint input.
Xiaomi did not seem to want to miss. Recently rumors that the candidate flagship manufacturer from China, Mi 7, will also be equipped with under-display fingerprint scanner.
The indication was expressed directly by Xiaomi's CEO, Lei Jun, in response to a Weibo forum user who joked that Mi 7 might have a fingerprint scanner on screen.
CEO Xiaomi Lei Jun responded to a Weibo forum user by confirming that Xiaomi Mi 7 would indeed be equipped with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Weibo CEO Xiaomi Lei Jun responded to a Weibo forum user by confirming that Xiaomi Mi 7 would indeed be equipped with an under-display fingerprint scanner. Lei Jun firmly replied that Mi 7 will indeed have the feature, as summarized from GizmoChina, Friday (6/4/2018).
Based on previous rumors, Xiaomi will release two new flagship, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus. Both specifications include Snapdragon 845 chip, dual-camera 16 megapixel camera, facial recognition, and 3,400 mAh battery with wireless charging.
The firmware leak from Mi 7 Plus (with Ursa code) indicates that the device will have an under-display fingerprint scanner. Perhaps, this feature will only be present at Mi 7 Plus and absent from Mi 7.
Is that right? The answer will probably be known when the launch of Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus is predicted to be held in June.
